The club was established in January 2006 as a non-profit, non-religious, non-political entity, run by it's members on a voluntary basis.

In the Northwest of Switzerland the club aims:

- to provide a focal point for Irish people, their families, friends and those interested in Ireland

- to promote Irish social and cultural activities and events

- to promote a broader understanding of Ireland and things Irish in the region.
